We make the port of Hamburg shine

Blohm+Voss is a traditional shipyard in the heart of the port of Hamburg, founded in 1877. Today, the company specializes in innovative and customized solutions for the new construction of naval vessels and is part of the privately owned NVL Group. With extensive expertise in technology, equipment and shipbuilding Blohm+Voss combines many years of experience with modern manufacturing and the highest quality standards.

With its 43 km long quay wall, nearly 300 berths for seagoing vessels, four modern container terminals and approximately 50 transshipment facilities, the port of Hamburg is one of the most efficient in the world. To remain competitive it requires equally powerful lighting. We have not only equipped the docks of the port of Hamburg with a large number of RayField V2 LED floodlights but also installed hundreds of RayProof lights in the numerous halls. The challenge with industrial outdoor lighting was overcoming the mounting heights which reached up to almost 30 meters at the docks and outdoor masts. Despite this the large area needed to be optimally illuminated. The LED floodlights now reduce stray light losses to a minimum and ensure homogeneous lighting conditions. The demanding installation in combination with the setup of the Casambi wireless solution was particularly exciting. All luminaires of the LED floodlight system at Dock 10 are equipped with smart wireless control and are managed via a smartphone.
